The Power of Partnerships

December 27, 2018

This past year the National Veterans Memorial and Museum marked many firsts as the Museum was recognized by Architectural Digest, received a national designation, and assembled the initial team to run this unique institution. But the most significant milestone, by far, was opening our doors to the public in late October. From the first day, we were able to offer free admission to veterans thanks to our generous partners.

If there’s one thing I take away from our inaugural year, it’s the power of partnerships. Just this month, I’ve had the distinct honor of connecting with some remarkable partners – including American Electric Power (AEP) , Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) and Airstream, the manufacturer of iconic travel trailers. The Museum also was fortunate to host local business leaders from the Columbus Partnership, whose support of our mission exemplifies Columbus’ collaborative spirit.

Looking into the new year, there are many exciting plans for the National Veterans Memorial and Museum. Marching onward into 2019, I’m energized by the environment – the inspiration of veterans whose stories are housed in the Museum, our hard-working and ever-growing team, and the philanthropic partners both in Columbus and across the country who make it possible.

So for all of you that have followed along on this journey thus far – thank you. But it’s only the beginning. Stay tuned for much more in the new year!
