World-Wide Knit in Public Day
Celebrate the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday on Saturday, June 14, with the NVMM as we honor the past and support today’s service members. As part of the celebration, join us for “World-Wide Knit in Public Day” in partnership with Operation Gratitude, an organization that provides care packages to deployed troops, veterans, and caregivers.
From 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Operation Gratitude team members will be on site as volunteers from across Ohio and beyond demonstrate knitting, crocheting, and other crafts used to create handmade items for care packages. Guests of all ages are invited to stop by the Great Hall to learn more about Operation Gratitude, write a letter of thanks, or color a page to be included in a future care package.
The event is free and open to the public, inviting attendees to shop local, support small businesses, and connect with Central Ohio’s nonprofit sector in a festive and welcoming setting. As a bonus, admission to the National Veterans Memorial and Museum is free for all attendees during each Scioto Arts Market event, offering a unique opportunity to explore the space while supporting local artists and nonprofits.
Guests can browse the outdoor marketplace adjacent to the NVMM, meet local makers and nonprofit leaders, and enjoy food trucks, community connections, and activities for all ages. On-site parking is available for a discounted $5 rate (normally $10).
Each SAM event is presented by the Columbus Young Professionals (CYP) Club, in partnership with Downtown Columbus, Inc., Huntington National Bank, and the National Veterans Memorial & Museum, with participation from dozens of small businesses, artisans, and nonprofit organizations from across the region.
