November at the Museum
This November, we honor the sacrifices of our nation’s service members and are inspired by their courage and commitment to a cause greater than oneself.

Matthew Modine’s Full Metal Jacket Diary
“Full Metal Jacket Diary,” is a photographic exhibition of images captured by actor Matthew Modine during the filming of the 1987 Vietnam War film classic “Full Metal Jacket.” The photos will be on display at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum beginning in mid-October through the end of the year.
This temporary exhibition is a glimpse into the making of a war film that is often said to transcend time while also giving the viewer an inside look at the brilliance of the film’s director, Stanley Kubrick.

Dedicate a Veterans Day Flag
Once again in 2025, you have the opportunity to honor a Veteran in your life in our Veterans Day flag campaign. For a donation of $20 or more, you can dedicate a flag on the NVMM lawn in honor of a loved one who served our country, or to honor all who have sworn to defend our country through military service.

Columbus Modern Dance Company “Locomotion 2025”
Dancers from CoMo and the Exit 12 Dance Company will include the NVMM on its bus tour of downtown Columbus. The Artistic Director of Exit 12 is Roman Baca, a U.S. Marine Iraq War Veteran. The dancers will perform in Gallery 33, surrounded by the photography of Matthew Modine’s “Full Metal Jacket Diary.” Standard NVMM ticket rates apply.

Veterans Day National Ceremony
On November 11th, actor Matthew Modine will join us as our keynote speaker for our annual Veterans Day ceremony. Modine may be best known for his role as Private/Sergeant J.T. “Joker” Davis, the central character of Stanley Kubrick’s Vietnam War film, Full Metal Jacket. The NVMM is currently hosting Modine’s exhibition, titled “Matthew Modine’s Full Metal Jacket Diary,” a collection of photographs he captured during the filming of the 1987 Vietnam War film classic. Our Veterans Day ceremony is free, but advance registration is required. There will be a meet-and-greet opportunity with Mr. Modine following the ceremony. Admission to the meet-and-greet is $10. Both tickets may be reserved by clicking on “Details.”
If you are unable to join us in person on Veterans Day, you can watch a livestream of the ceremony here.
