Dr. Frederic Bertley
CEO (Interim)
Dr. Bertley is a renowned, civic-minded leader, strategist, innovator, scientist, and communicator. He is leading NVMM through a strategic transformational phase to continue to honor and celebrate the lives of Veterans and the role of service in the national landscape. Dr. Bertley is also the President and CEO of the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), USA Today’s #1 Science Museum in the Nation.

William J. Butler
Acting President
Colonel, U.S. Army (Retired)
Bill comes to the Museum after 27 years of service in the U.S. Army as a career Infantry officer and an additional two years as a senior Department of the Army civilian. Bill is a seasoned non-profit leader with a proven track record in strategic planning, operational efficiency, and cross functional leadership. He spearheaded initiatives at the NVMM leading to significant attendance growth and cost savings.

Marnie Holder
Vice President of Advancement
Marnie joined the Museum with 23 years of combined Federal Government service as a senior Department of Army civilian and staff member in the US Senate; and 6 years of national non-profit experience as Director of Hiring Events for the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Hiring Our Heroes.
Marie Zahn
Interim Museum Director
Marie is an interdisciplinary professional with a background in archaeology, space science, and artifact conservation. As a Museum Director, Marie excels in engaging audiences through lectures, demonstrations, and curated experiences. Driven by her commitment to advancing the role of museums and engaging the public within the cultural heritage field, Marie is passionate about making science and history accessible, inclusive, and inspiring to all.
Gary Hensley, MBA
Associate Vice President of Business Operations and Strategy
U.S. Marine Corps (Veteran)
Gary is a dual service Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and Air National Guard with 20+ years of experience in military leadership, corporate financial strategy, business intelligence, and nonprofit operations. As head of Business Operations and Strategy at NVMM, he brings a strategic, data-driven mindset focused on sustainability, financial discipline, and cross functional alignment.
Krista Weida
Director of HR and In-House Legal Counsel
Krista brings 25 years of legal and HR experience across federal and state government, higher education, and private practice. She has expertise in labor and employment law, contracts, and employee relations. Krista has served as in-house counsel, advised on compliance, and supported performance management. Most recently, she advocated for disabled veterans, navigating federal regulations and procedures.
