Veteran Employee Resource Group (VERG) Summit

The goal of the NVMM’s Veteran Employee Resource Group (VERG) Summit is to inspire organizations across the country to embrace Veterans in their diverse workforce and create a culture that provides Veterans and civilians opportunities to succeed together.

The VERG Summit bridges the gap between Veteran and civilian workforces. Panel discussions will provide insight into the valuable skills and leadership qualities honed through military service, showcasing how these strengths translate into tangible benefits for businesses. This one-day event will equip attendees with practical strategies for creating a welcoming environment that attracts, retains, and empowers Veteran employees.

Registration includes morning refreshments and a networking lunch.

The Honorable Cheryl Mason began her journey in the foothills of Appalachia and overcame life’s challenges to become the first woman Chairman of the VA Board of Veterans’ Appeals.

Implementing her novel leadership style, she transformed a struggling federal agency into an efficient and innovative organization. This shift resulted in significant tangible outcomes for customers, elevated employee morale and retention, and improved the trust of customers and stakeholders.

As a speaker and author, she inspires others by sharing her experiences of perseverance and leadership. At Catalyst Leadership Management, she provides consultancy and training services to advise and assist CEOs and companies on several topics including practicing relational leadership.

She earned a B.A. in Political Science and Psychology from Ohio Northern University and a J.D. from Creighton University School of Law. She is the spouse of a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Robin served over twenty years in the Army with career highlights that include five deployments to Afghanistan and
Iraq, commanding at the company and battalion levels, and serving as the Special Assistant to the Chairman of the
Joint Chiefs of Staff. Robin has found her new mission using humor to help leaders sharpen their problem-solving skills, improve cognitive performance, and increase positivity within organizational culture. As a Certified Humor Professional
through the Association for Applied & Therapeutic Humor, she combines comedy with a cognitive behavioral theory-based approach in keynotes and workshops for audiences world-wide.
