Vetrepreneur Spotlight: American Yogi

Phil Sussman, U.S. Army Veteran and Co-Founder of American Yogi, joins us for this month’s Vetrepreneur Spotlight. He was inspired to create a community where both men and women could find a vehicle to peace. Today, American Yogi is more than a t-shirt brand. It’s a movement, a family and a community.

About American Yogi

Our goal is to help men and women find a vehicle to peace. Not everyone is instantly drawn to yoga nor does everyone understand the amazing effects that it can have on your life. So what we’re trying to do is make the practice accessible. It’s for the Veterans, the 9 to 5’ers, the moms, the dads, and any seekers of peace. What started as a shirt business has become a family. A community of like-minded individuals all seeking the same thing: peace.

Vetrepreneur Spotlight: Triple Nikel

In two short years, Triple Nikel has proven themselves as a contender in the apparel industry. Inspired by the legacy of 555th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Co-Founders and U.S. Army Veterans Ruben Ayala and Chris McPhee share how they are rebranding what “looking like a Veteran” means in our next Vetrepreneur Spotlight.

About Triple Nikel

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in the summer of 2020, the idea for Triple Nikel was sparked. The founders created an idea based off four simple concepts: Legacy, Community, Music and Love. Each founder started their military careers in the 82nd Airborne Division as paratroopers. It is our common ground to which they derive experiences, motivation and content. Their designs pull inspiration from the Hip Hop culture. Besides the military, a common ground between all the TN founders is Hip Hop. They believe that music is a common thread that binds all people; so that’s why their collections are dedicated to music they love.

Vetrepreneur Spotlight: Hero Cards

In our latest Vetrepreneur Spotlight, Dale Kooyenga, U.S. Army Reservist and Founder and CEO of Hero Cards, shares what inspired him to create hero collector cards that honor every member of the U.S. military who gave ‘the last full measure of devotion’ for our freedom. They look to present these stories in a compelling way, to ensure these service members are never forgotten.

About Hero Cards

Hero Cards aim is to educate future generations, instill gratitude and honor the fallen. Their mission is to honor the sacrifices made by every member of the U.S. military—from the Revolutionary War to present day—who lost their life while serving our country. In addition to creating a Hero Card for every fallen service member, they are creating an online archive to preserve each story for future generations. Hero Cards are made in the U.S.A. and donate a portion of their revenue to support Veteran-focused non-profit organizations.

Amparo Vega has always been a protector, firstly in serving our country in the United States Army, and secondly in the Cleveland Police Department; serving 27 years combined. Her second love is jewelry. Starting in the early 90’s Amparo bought and sold jewelry to family, friends and fellow officers. With product demand growing over the years, Amparo created an online store where CuffnStuff.com was born. Her goal was (and still is) to sell high quality, personalized law enforcement jewelry and novelty gifts at a price everyone could afford.
