Find Your Tribe: Navigating PTSD and Moral Injuries [Rally Point]

This September, join us in expanding the conversation on mental health and suicide by revisiting our Rally Point program featuring special guest active-duty U.S. Marine Corps Major Tom Schueman, founder of Patrol Base Abbate. Their mission is to provide a space for all Veterans and service members to reconnect around shared interests.

Major Tom Schueman, U.S. Marine Corps is the founder of Patrol Base Abbate, professor of English literature at the Naval Academy and author of “Always Faithful: A Story of the War in Afghanistan, the Fall of Kabul, and the Unshakable Bond Between a Marine and an Interpreter.”

Patrol Base Abbate provides a space for all veterans and service members to reconnect around shared interests.  We aim to facilitate a rediscovery of purpose so our members can reclaim the best version of themselves in service to their families and their communities.

The legacy of our name sake, Sergeant Matt Abbate, Navy Cross recipient (posthumously awarded), serves as an example for all veterans.  In times of need, there is a Sgt Abbate in all of our lives who believe in us more than we believe in ourselves, who lifts us up and helps us see a higher version of self.  We use his example and his legacy to guide us as a reminder of the heroes in our own lives.  We use their example and belief in us to hold us accountable and encourage us towards the best versions of ourselves.
