Each month, the Museum invites you to get to know the staff supporting our pillars to Honor, Connect, Inspire and Educate. Meet Krista Weida, our Compliance and Human Resource Officer.
Q: What is your favorite place in the Museum and why?
A: It is hard to pick 1 so I narrowed it down to 2! The Memorial Grove and the Rooftop. They are both beautiful, sacred places. The waterfalls have a calming effect and I love the views of downtown from the rooftop and the military campaign ribbon, stained glass illuminating the Museum. Both spaces allow personal reflection and a moment of peace from a hectic workday.
Q: What are three words that best describe you?
A: Empathetic, curious, and a thinker (maybe to my detriment!)
Q: We feature an #NVMMReads recommendation every month, what is a book that you think everyone should have on their “must-read” list?
A: One of my most thought provoking, symbolic reads is a book by Fredrik Backman titled “My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry.”
Q: What is something that no one would believe about you?
A: I was born weighing 2 lbs, 11 oz and could fit into my mom’s hands. Since it was many, many years ago (I won’t say how many!), I was put into a study at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital that examined the effects of bilirubin lights on premies who were severely jaundiced. Fast forward to when I had my daughter, she was born pre-term and was put under bilirubin lights because she was critically jaundiced. So, in a sense, I had something to do with saving my daughter’s life.
Q: What fictional character do you want to be your best friend and why?
A: I absolutely could not think of one single person, so I am going to say the whole cast of “Friends.” It is one of my favorite shows and each character fits a different aspect of my personality. Wouldn’t life be fun with them around all the time?
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: To run a 5K without being chased!
Q: What’s your favorite board game?
A: Scattegories because it fits my compulsive brain!
Q: What was the last television show you binge-watched?
A: “Fargo” – it’s so twisted!
