Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony

While Memorial Day has come to be known as the unofficial start of summer, it is important for us to remember the true meaning of the day. Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor all the men and women who have lost their lives in service to our country, as well as the families they left behind.

Nate Boyer, U.S. Army Green Beret Veteran and former NFL player, will deliver the keynote address. He made history in 2015 as the oldest rookie in league history at age 34 with the Seattle Seahawks. A philanthropist and storyteller, he co-founded the nonprofit Merging Vets & Players and now works in film and television as a producer, director, writer, actor, and host.

At the conclusion of this ceremony, there will be a time for audience members to honor a lost loved one, fellow servicemember, or acquaintance/friend in response to the prompt, “I will always remember …”

This is a powerful and moving part of our Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony, and we invite you to share the name of a loved one who gave their life in service to our country.

Nate Boyer is what many would deem a renaissance man. The Army Green Beret – who deployed to both Iraq & Afghanistan over his 10-year military career – is also a philanthropist, humanitarian, and former football player for the University of Texas Longhorns despite never playing a down of organized football prior to his time in the Special Forces. In 2015 Nate became the oldest rookie in NFL history at the age of 34 while playing for the Seattle Seahawks. Being a member of both the military veteran and professional athlete communities, Boyer saw an opportunity to team up both populations and tackle their transition struggles together through Merging Vets & Players, a nonprofit he co-founded with Fox Sports personality Jay Glazer. Nate currently works in Film and TV as a producer,
director, writer, actor, and host. After being cast in several movies and TV shows; he co-created, executive produced, and hosted the NFL Network series: Indivisible with Nate Boyer in 2018. He went on to co-write, and produce his directorial debut MVP, a feature film that released nationwide in 2022. Nate hosted the Discovery Channel and MAX competition series, Survive the Raft in 2023.
