In partnership with the Augusta Chiwy Foundation, The National Veterans Memorial Museum presents an unforgettable event about the profound story of A Train Near Magdeburg.
Witness the heroism of the 1945 Holocaust train liberation which saved 2500 concentration camp prisoners from death by the 30th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, immortalized in Major Clarence Benjamin’s iconic photograph—one of the 20th century’s most powerful images. Meet acclaimed historian Matthew Rozell, along with liberators, their families, and survivors of the train, as they share their deeply moving stories of courage and humanity.
A keynote speech will be given by Brigadier General Charles “Wes” Morrison from the North Carolina National Guard, keeper of the story of the 30th Infantry Division.

“It is to preserve the memory of this historic date that we continue to work on this documentary series. We are inspired and determined to make a work of art that will do credit to all of the extraordinary people who connected on April 13, 1945.”
