The National Veterans Memorial and Museum invites visitors to immerse themselves in the history of the Battle of the Bulge at the 80th Anniversary event on Jan. 18, take part in a hands-on mosaic-making workshop using recycled stained glass on Jan. 19, and enjoy $5 admission on Jan. 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, marking the final chance to view the “Remembered Light” exhibition. Each event offers a unique way to connect with stories of resilience and remembrance.
80th Anniversary of The Battle of the Bulge Event
Jan. 18
Join us for a special event marking the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge that was fought from December 16, 1944 – January 25, 1945. This immersive experience features re-enactors portraying soldiers from the Allied and German armies and European civilians, bringing to life the intense combat and daily realities of winter wartime. This event provides a vivid, personal connection to World War II history where visitors of all ages can:
Interact with re-enactors and experts in period uniforms
Touch and try on authentic uniforms and handle WWII weapons and equipment
Grab a passport book and get a stamp for various experiences
Learn more about larger context of the Battle of the Bulge
Gain insight into the experiences of local populations affected by the conflict

Explore our temporary exhibition, Remembered Light: Glass Fragments from World War II, before it leaves the museum
Special admission price: $8 (As always, Veterans, Gold Star Family members and Active-Duty Military are free.)
Beyond the Exhibit: Making Mosaics with Good Dea Craft School
Jan. 19
Create your mosaic masterpiece using recycled glass and your own vision! In this workshop, Good Dea Craft School owner Kara will teach you the basics of mosaics; you’ll select your design and colors and use glass to bring it to life on tiles that can be used as coasters or hung up for display. The materials you’ll use are all recycled from stained glass projects, classes, and repaired windows.
This workshop is best suited for ages 12 and up.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Join us for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service at the NVMM on January 20th. Discover inspiring stories of Veterans who served our nation and continue their legacy through acts of service. In the Great Hall, you’ll find local community service organizations ready to connect you with meaningful volunteer opportunities for both children and adults. Make this MLK Jr. Day a day of reflection, learning, and giving back to your community!
Special admission price of $5 all day.
