September 2024 at the Museum

This September, explore what’s new at NVMM! On September 11, we’ll honor those who lost their lives, first responders, and Veterans in a Patriot Day Ceremony, in partnership with the City of Columbus.

Don’t miss the opening night of Remembered Light: Glass Fragments from World War II, on September 13, featuring 25 art pieces made from stained glass salvaged from European cathedrals, synagogues, and chapels destroyed in World War II.

On September 19, employers are invited to the Veteran Employee Resource Group (VERG) Summit, offering panel discussions on creating a welcoming environment for Veteran employees.

UPCOMING EVENTS THIS MONTH

Patriot Day Ceremony

Wednesday, September 11 | 12 p.m.

Join us in-person or online on Wednesday, September 11, for a moving Patriot Day Ceremony held in partnership with the City of Columbus. We will honor all those who lost their lives, the first responders who rescued many and refused to leave anyone behind and the Veterans who served again on that fateful day 23 years ago.

The 2024 Patriot Day Ceremony is free to attend and will be held out front of the Museum, weather permitting. Admission to the museum before or after the ceremony is just $5.

Opening Night, Remembered Light: Glass Fragments from World War II

Friday, September 13 | 6:30 p.m.

You’re invited you to join us for the highly anticipated opening night of our new exhibition, Remembered Light: Glass Fragments from World War II. This extraordinary collection features 25 unique art pieces created with stained glass shards salvaged from war-ravaged European cathedrals, synagogues and chapels during World War II.

Experience a night of reflection and artistic brilliance as we honor the past and its connection to the present. Be among the first to witness these striking pieces and gain a deeper understanding of history through the lens of art.

Veteran Employee Resource Group (VERG) Summit

Friday, September 19 | 9 a.m.

The VERG Summit bridges the gap between Veteran and civilian workforces. Panel discussions will provide insight into the valuable skills and leadership qualities honed through military service, showcasing how these strengths translate into tangible benefits for businesses.

This one-day event will equip attendees with practical strategies for creating a welcoming environment that attracts, retain, and empowers Veteran employees.

Gold Star Family Monument Dedication

Sunday, September 29 | 4 p.m.

This special tribute will honor and recognize Gold Star Families, preserving the legacy of their loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice. Since breaking ground in May 2022, the monument committee has worked tirelessly to raise funds and awareness, creating a sacred space for Gold Star Families to call their own.
