Shawn Augustson is an Army Veteran who discovered art as a form of therapy after serving in Iraq. He refers to his work as Post Traumatic Expression.
His primary focus is colorful acrylic paintings, but he also enjoys Linocut printmaking and photography. Shawn starts his paintings by first laying down a base color of either “traumatic red” or “PTSD teal,” using negative thoughts and turning them into “contrasts of beauty.”
His work has been featured in the Columbus Museum of Art, the Kurt Vonnegut Museum in Indianapolis and the National Veterans Art Museum In Chicago.
