NVMM Story Collection

NVMM | Story Corps

The National Veterans Memorial and Museum (NVMM) is partnering with StoryCorps to collect, preserve, and amplify the stories and experiences of our nation’s Veterans.

You’re Invited to Take Part!

All those touched by military service, including active service members, Veterans, spouses, children, friends, and community members are invited to participate. By adding your conversation to the NVMM Story Collection your story, or that of a loved one, becomes part of the NVMM and broadens the stories we share. Your conversations will become part of the museum’s digital collection and live on for generations!

Record with StoryCorps

StoryCorps is a national nonprofit that helps everyday Americans record, preserve, and share their stories. Since 2003, StoryCorps has given over half a million Americans the chance to record interviews about their lives. The organization preserves the recordings in its archive at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

How to Participate

f you would like to record with StoryCorps you can use the  StoryCorps Virtual Recording Booth to record your own conversation with a partner from anywhere you wish. When you complete your conversation, it will automatically be saved in the StoryCorps archive as part of the NVMM Story Collection. You’ll have the ability to control the privacy settings for your interview in the archive – with the option to either make your interview public, or to make it accessible only to other StoryCorps online archive users. (You can also delete recordings, and record new interviews, if you need to). You can adjust your privacy settings at any time.

The NVMM will be celebrating and sharing this conversation archive as part of our work to amplify the individual voices and shared experiences of Veterans for community engagement, education, and research purposes. It will not be used for any commercial or advertising purposes. We’re excited to share these projects as they come together!
