World War II was one of the deadliest military conflicts in history. On September 2, 1945, Japan formally surrendered to the Allies aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay, bringing an end to World War II. We pay tribute to the 16 million Americans who served and sacrificed for our freedom.

With our partner Beyond The Call, we bring to you the stories of our nation’s World War II Veterans. The latest documentary shares the story of World War II Marine Combat Veteran, Charlie Kohler. He joined the service and would go on to fight in the Battle of Iwo Jima. To Charlie’s surprise, his little brother Eddie showed up to fight alongside him. Normally the military would try to separate brothers, but Eddie wanted to be with Charlie in battle. Unfortunately, for the Kohler brothers, only one would make it home. Charlie shares his heart-wrenching story of courage and his journey post-war to ensure his brother’s sacrifice is never forgotten.
