Inspiring Story of Service:
Jon Jackson

Jon discusses his separation from the military in a passage from the newly-released book, “The Twenty-Year War.”

“Separating is tough. You come from a unit like the Rangers and then you are out. You aren’t deploying or jumping, you feel like you lost your edge.”

What We’re Reading

This month we are continuing with our theme, Lest We Forget, by enjoying a series of children’s books related to the events on 9/11.

“30,000 Stitches,” by Amanda Davis
“This Very Tree,” by Sean Rubin
“Fireboat” by Maira Kalman

September Staff Spotlight

Jennifer works with the marketing department to share Veterans’ stories and the NVMM mission with local, regional and national audiences.

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

We all have a role to play in listening, connecting, and reaching out to those who may be struggling with challenges. By talking about mental health and suicide, it not only helps reduce stigma and increase awareness, but it also has the potential to save a life.
